“Wealth, whether spiritual or financial, only matters when you build something greater than yourself.”
These were the words of guest speaker Sean Dougherty, Executive Director of VAMOS!, to local business leaders this morning at the Catholic Business Network of South Jersey‘s monthly breakfast.
In the parish hall of Holy Eucharist Parish, Cherry Hill, Dougherty shared the work of his non-profit, which serves and empowers the poor in Mexico by providing 140,000 meals every year; and operating ten community centers in the country’s poorest areas, that provide school and medical needs.
With VAMOS!’ work “rooted in the Gospel,” Dougherty continued, to provide a culture of love, respect, and dignity to Mexico’s residents, he hoped his audience would think about how they could support this kind of work, and make an “investment in God’s kingdom on Earth (and) an investment in love and faith.”
